PROJECT: THE GREAT WESTERN HOTEL

LOCATION: EXETER, DEVON

idesign were happy to be called on by The Great Western Hotel to help with the design and refurbishment of their bar, reception and restaurant areas. Ideally located near St David's Station, the hotel sees many of its guests come and go with the trains. With such a steady stream of traffic, the upkeep and appeal of the hotel needed to be particularly on point. The hotel recently underwent an external make over and required interiors to match. The client had a unique vision for their hospitality interior design and set a tricky brief: Victorian gin bar meets railway carriage. After some discussion, design attempts, and plenty of creative brainstorming, we found the perfect solution. Their eccentric design concept was brought to life by racing green checkered fabrics, dark walnut flooring, and industrial railway lighting supplied by Amos lighting. To complete the look, we found furniture supplied by Edison & Day   to give the hotel the warm, sophisticated vibe of a cosy gentleman's club.
